Physics 2053-801 January 2002 (Rabson)
Physics 2053-801 January 2002 - Rabson
General announcements
- 4/11 change: two weeks ago, the class asked for two sheets
of handwritten notes on the final examination instead of the
single sheet allowed in the syllabus. No one could find any
reason to object, so it will be two sheets.
- 3/6 change: by agreement with the class, HW9 will be due
on Monday, 25 March instead of Monday, 18 March. The change
has been reflected on the Web.
- 3/4 correction: on the homework-9 handout, the solution
to the previous week's problem I called 8400 rotations per
minute "about 10^5 rpm." It should obviously have been "about
10^4 rpm." This has been corrected on the Web site.
- 1/7 corrections: (1) On HW1 (the PHZ 2101 syllabus) near the middle
of the page toward the left, the header should read "Physics 2053,"
not "Physics 2048." (2) On page 3 of the syllabus, in the
paragraph headed "physics majors and minors," second-to-last line,
the course number 3102 should read 3101 ("Modern Physics").
Both misprints have now been corrected in the electronic versions.
- 1/7 clarification: In HW1, problem "I," assume it takes very
little time to change speeds, so that the car reaches the stated
speeds almost immediately. Also note that the variable "c" just
stands for some arbitrary speed in this problem, not the speed
of light in vacuum.
